Beginning on the Hamilton‑Story County line at a point near the SW Corner Section 35‑T86N‑R24W, Hamilton County (NE Corner Section 2‑T85N-R24W, Story County); thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 35 and 26‑T86N‑R24W to a point approximately 1,100 feet south of the NE Corner Section 27‑T86N‑R24W; thence curving in a northwesterly direction to a point approximately 1,100 feet west of the NE Corner Section 27‑T86N‑R24W; thence west following substantially the section line of said Section 27 to a point approximately 1,100 feet east of the SW Corner Section 22‑T86N‑R24W; thence curving in a northwesterly direction to a point approximately 1,100 feet north of the SW Corner Section 22‑T86N‑R24W; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 22 and 15‑T86N‑R24W to a point approximately 800 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 15‑T86N-R24W; thence in a northwesterly direction through the east part of Section 16‑T86N‑R24W and in a northeasterly direction through the east part of Section 9‑T86N‑R24W to a point approximately 1,000 feet south of the NW Corner of Section 10‑T86N‑R24W; thence north following substantially the section line of Section 10 (south junction Iowa 175) and 3‑T88N‑R24W to the south corporation line of Jewell, connecting with Main Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the review of our Primary Road System records, US 69 in Hamilton County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

US 69 begins at the Hamilton‑Story County line approximately 2 ½ miles southwest of Randall, Iowa and travels in a northerly direction via the City of Jewell, to the Hamilton‑Wright County line, approximately 5 miles north of Blairsburg, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate US 69 and its extensions in Hamilton County as follows:

Beginning on the Hamilton‑Story County line at a point near the SW Corner Section 35‑T86N‑R24W, Hamilton County (NE Corner Section 2-T85N-R24W, Story County); thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 35 and 26‑T86N‑R24W to a point approximately 1100 feet south of the NE Corner Section 27‑T86N‑R24W; thence curving in a northwesterly direction to a point approximately 1100 feet west of the NE Corner Section 27‑T86N‑R24W; thence west following substantially the section line said Section 27 to a point approximately 1100 feet east of the SW Corner Section 22‑T86N-R24W; thence curving in a northwesterly direction to a point approximately 1100 feet north of the SW Corner Section 22‑T86N‑R24W; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 22 and 15‑T86N‑R24W to a point approximately 800 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 15‑T86N‑R24W; thence in a northwesterly direction through the east part of Section 16-T86N‑R24W and in a northeasterly direction through the east part of Section 9‑T86N‑R24W to a point approximately 1000 feet south of the NW Corner of Section 10‑T86N‑R24W; thence north following substantially the section line of Section 10 (south junction Iowa 175) and 3‑T88N‑R24W to the south corporation line of the City of Jewell, connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the city of Jewell, connecting with an unnamed street; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 22, 15, 10, and 3‑T87N‑R24W and Sections 34, 27, 22, 15, 10 (Iowa 520 interchange) and 3‑T88N‑R24W to a point approximately 600 feet south of the NW Corner Section 3‑T88N‑R24W; thence in a northeasterly direction through the northwest corner of Section 3‑T88N‑R24W and the southeast corner of Section 35-T89N‑R24W and northeasterly and northwesterly through the west part of Section 36‑T89N‑R24W to a point near the NW Corner of Section 36‑T90N‑R24W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 25, 24, 13, 12, and 1-T89N-R24W to the Hamilton‑Wright County line at a point near the NW Corner of Section 1‑T89N‑R24W, Hamilton County (SW Corner of Section 36‑T90N‑R24W, Wright County).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of US 69 in Hamilton County, Iowa.
